Robert L. Cummings CFP. REBC, CLU, CEO and Managing Principal
Bob founded American Benefits Group in 1986 and has led the company’s growth as a best of breed national employee benefits administrator. A recognized expert in the field of employee benefits and flexible compensation, he serves on the board of the National Association of Professional Benefits Administrators.
Bob is a founding member of NFP Benefits Partners, one of the nation’s leading employee benefits brokerage, consulting and administrative service organizations. As a result of Bob’s leadership, American Benefits serves as the Platform Partner for Consumer Reimbursement Account administration for NFP Benefits affiliated firms nationwide.
Rich Sormanti, CCA, CCPA, FLMI – Director, Sales & Marketing
Rich joined American Benefits Group in 2010. Prior to joining us, Rich worked for 25 years at MassMutual and for 5 years with Wellpoint/Unicare. Rich has an extensive operations management and project management background in the group life & health and defined benefits fields. While with MassMutual, Rich was responsible for starting their COBRA administration and Flexible Spending service teams in the late 1980’s, as well as their EDI membership operations organization.
Herbert Mayer Jr., CCA, CCPA - Director of Finance and Operations
Herb has been with American Benefits Group since 1996, prior to which he operated his own business for twelve years and managed his family’s business for five years. Due to his extensive experience as a business owner and manager, Herb has been able to contribute to every aspect of American Benefits Group’s operations, from Sales & Marketing, to Human Resources, to Accounting and Administration. He currently heads up operations and oversees the Flexible Spending Accounts, Group Billing and COBRA departments.
Clodagh Parker, CCA, CCPA - Director, Flexible Compensation Services
Clodagh has worked for American Benefits Group since 2004. A native of Ireland, Clodagh started out working in investment banking, and worked for a short period of time at Nat West Finance in Melbourne, Australia. She received her BA degree from Mount Holyoke College and continues to volunteer for their admissions department. She is also President of the board of Northampton Community Television (NCTV).
Janna C. Barcomb, CCA, CCPA – Director, COBRA Administrative Services
Janna joined American Benefits Group in 2001 after 20 years in the financial services industry. She is a COBRA Certified Administrator and manages the COBRA System and Group Benefits Administration for our key clients.
Ian Michael - Director, IT
American Benefits Group acquired Ian in 2009 to help streamline all of our information technology systems. He currently employs state-of-the-art software, allowing us to accommodate virtually any file specification. Ian has trained in both interactive design and software development, and is a technology resource. From building database systems, to helping improve your online experience, Ian is working with our team to bring you the best TPA experience possible.
Clay Cummings, CCA, CCPA - Director, Customer Experience
Clay joined American Benefits Group in 2005, working in accounting and eventually becoming the Accounting and Billing Manager. He also worked with the Flexible Spending Department, providing customer support, and in 2009 he transitioned from Accounting to the Flexible Spending Department and became the Customer Service Manager. In 2011 Clay was promoted to Director of Customer Experience, a newly created leadership position, working with all of our business and IT partners to deliver an industry leading e-business and service experience for our clients and their participants. He oversees customer service for the Flexible Spending Department and manages the support@amben.com email support team. Clay lives in South Deerfield, with his fiancée, their cats Jack and Olivia and their new baby Clay Jr.
Sakhon Poy, CCA, CCPA - Group Benefits Manager
Sakhon Poy began her insurance career in 2006 as an Employee Benefits Specialists at The Nathan Agencies. She is a licensed insurance broker in Life & Health. Sakhon has been serving employers and individuals by providing them with efficient and effective options for their health plans, life insurance, dental coverage, disability income, and many other benefit plans. She holds a Bachelors Degree in International Politics from Mount Holyoke College.
Chris Bowen, CCA, CCPA – Senior Claims Administrator
Chris is a former engineer and property assessment data collector who has found a new life administering FSA and HRA claims for American Benefits Group. He, his wife and his daughter make their home in Southampton, Massachusetts.
Kristen McNeish, CCA, CCPA - Claims Support Specialist
Kristen joined American Benefits Group in 2009 working in the Cobra department as a Cobra Support Specialist. Kristen is currently part of the Flex team processing FSA and HRA claims while providing customer support. Prior to joining ABG, Kristen worked for several years at an Accounting Firm in Human Resources Management and administering employee benefits.
Audley Robinson, CCPA - Sales Consultant
Audley joined American Benefits Group in 2010 and is certified for Section 125 Cafeteria Plan administration. Audley has been in sales and marketing for over 30 years, first in his native England, as a Production and Client liaison Manager, for a regional publishing firm in London. Then as a Production Manager for a large insurance company based in Tunbridge Wells.
After his move to the United States, Audley was employed by American Honda as a sales and leasing consultant, where he earned several awards for his exemplary level of service, most notably achieving the status of Gold Master sales consultant for eight years and a designation of top walker around sales consultant for all of New England and Upstate New York, for 2008.
Audley stays active by cycling, running, swimming and kayaking. He enjoys doing volunteer work for his church and has helped with fundraising for several local organizations, such as the Greenfield YMCA. Audley holds a Certificate in Production Management with HNC Business and Finance and is also a Certified Craft Bookbinder and a graduate of the London College of Printing.
Martha Smith - Flexible Benefits Administrator
Martha joined American Benefits Group in 2010 with twenty years of experience in financial services and small business administration. She owned and operated a real estate appraisal company for years, and she has Life & Health licenses as well. Martha holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of Massachusetts, and lives in Northampton with the youngest of her four children.
Laura Bryant - Flexible Benefits Administrator
Laura joined American Benefits Group in 2010. She works in the Flex Department as part of the support@amben.com email support team. She recently graduated with her BA in Education from Bay Path College. Laura lives in South Deerfield, with her fiancé and their new baby.
Bob Wilson - Benefits Claims Administrator
Having joined American Benefits in 2011, Bob brings with him over twelve years of experience in business analysis, training and technical writing. Industry-leading companies who have employed his talents include power utility, financial, insurance and econometric-forecasting firms.
Graduated from UMass Amherst with a BFA, Bob completed additional formal training in change management & business process reengineering through Michael Hammer and Company. He also completed training for his volunteer roles as a small-claims-court mediator and an ESOL tutor. Bob currently shares a home in Northampton with his board game collection and his guitar.
Linda Lewis, CCA - COBRA Support Specialist
Linda joined American Benefits Group in 2010. She has 20+ years of experience in COBRA administration, which she gained while working at Mass Mutual and at Wellpoint/Unicare. In her free time, she enjoys RV camping and spending time with family and friends.
Donna Morin, CCA - COBRA Support Specialist
Donna joined American Benefits Group's COBRA Support team in 2010. She has over 15 years of administrative experience, as well as over 8 years of experience as a Benefits Coordinator administering 401(k), Section 125 Flex and COBRA plans. Originally from Springfield, MA, she now lives in Montgomery, MA, with her husband and two sons.
